A taste of Chile and Argentina

Posted

Chile and Argentina boast wine making extremes in abundance. From working in the world’s highest vineyards to arid deserts the resident wine makers are never short of a challenge or two, and yet as is internationally recognised they rise to these challenges to produce some astoundingly good wines.

As with other areas known as ‘new world’ (despite their long wine making heritage), the wine making techniques and styles have moved from producing big bruisers, to fresher purer styles. More subtle use of oak enables the fruit to shine, earlier harvesting reduces the alcohol levels and offers more elegant and mineral flavours. Added to which experimentation with more grape varieties adds to the interest and selection on offer.

We have selected a handful of recent shipments available throughout May and June.
